Bluemoose 'Christian Grey' title abandoned following legal warning

The Bookseller reported today that Bluemoose Books publisher Kevin Duffy has decided to abandon plans to publish The Secret Life of Christian Grey by Dominic Cutmore following a threat of legal action....

On 19 July The Bookseller reported:

West Yorkshire indie Bluemoose Books is to publish the "unauthorised biography" of Christian Grey, the hero of Cornerstone's bestselling Fifty Shades of Grey series.

The Secret Life of Christian Grey, written by the fictional Dominic Cutmore, supposedly an old school-friend of Grey, will be published on 31st October. Bluemoose is creating the project in-house.

The book claims to explore "Grey's childhood, educational background, rapid rise in business, years of international travel and his string of relationships and select sexual proclivities", as well as digging deep "into the psychology of this individual".
Publisher Kevin Duffy said the book "pulls no punches and leaves no stone unturned", positioning it as a "must-read" for Fifty Shades fans.
Cornerstone declined to comment.
