2012 CLL/NZSA Research Grants Announced

Copyright Licensing Ltd and New Zealand Society of Authors are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2012 CLL/NZSA Research Grants.

They are:   Warkworth writer Kelly Ana Morey (left) for a literary novella about Phar Lap and Wellington writer David McGill (right) - for a biographical exploration of his great grandfather who became the mayor of Auckland.
The Open Research Grant, a $3,500 award for either fiction or non-fiction,  is awarded to a project-based application where the applicant is able to specify where the research is to take place.

Judging panel convenor Julia Millen says the panel found the process interesting and rewarding – and felt the grant was a wonderful research opportunity for fiction and nonfiction writers alike.

This year the judging panel decided to award two Open Research Grants instead of one Open Research Grant and one Stout Research Grant.
Selection panel: Julia Millen, Graeme Lay, Geoff Walker.

The grants will awarded at the CLL Writers Awards ceremony to be held in Auckland.
