BOOK BUYING: Posman Books' Rockefeller Center location caters to the local office population and to tourists, according to Robert Fader, Posman's buyer.
Borders may have gone but not all bookstores are dying. Independent retailer Posman Books has just opened a shop in the concourse at Rockefeller Center.
Located below street level, between the ice skating rink and the subway, the 1,400-square-foot store is Posman’s third Manhattan location. The indie has its flagship in Grand Central, as well as a Chelsea Market outlet that opened two years ago.
Given its small footprint, the new spot offers a tightly focused inventory that’s heavy on categories that have weathered the transition to e-books, including business and children’s selections. It also carries new fiction and nonfiction, as well as guides and other books about New York City.
“I think of it as a quality airport bookstore,” Mr. Fader said.
