Ian Conrich reports:
The NZSA is re-emerging along with a new Centre for New Zealand Studies. The NZSA will now be directed and guided by a New Zealand Studies Council of 30 academics, who will steer New Zealand Studies as it evolves into a new and stronger future. We are close to presenting the 30 members of this council as well as announcing the new Centre for New Zealand Studies.
Many people have asked for both the return of NZSA and the Centre for New Zealand Studies. An extensive group of individuals sees this exciting development as the best way of serving the needs of the significant New Zealand Studies community. The NZSA structure remains intact, and the Association's website will be updated and extended.
Key initial developments will involve -
1) The re-emergence of the NZSA Bulletin of New Zealand Studies, a major international refereed
journal, which will be supplied free to all NZSA members.
2) A NZSA community forum.
3) An international conference for early July 2012.
Two new edited books, New Zealand, France and the Pacific, and Small Nations, Big Neighbours: New Zealand and Canada, have recently been published. There are 17 articles in these 2 books and both will be sent as complimentary copies to all new and renewing members.
