On September 30th in Madrid, María Kodama, the widow of Jorge Luis Borges, presented a rare, unpublished text by the Argentine master to mark the end of The Year of Borges (sponsored by the International Borges Foundation). The text consists of a translation of a lecture on Don Quixote delivered in English by Borges at the University of Texas at Austin in 1968. This is the first Spanish edition of the text. In the talk, Borges speaks of how particular literary characters, such as Don Quixote, literally transcend the the text, taking on a life of their own.(Source: Vanguardia, Mexico)
