HAS HOBBIT FEVER FADED? AND WILL DRAGON TATS BE THE NEW FAVE?

Have those hairy hobbits done their dash? And is Potter passion passing?

Will girls with dragon tattoos fire up Kiwis? Or do they think vampires are bloody great?

These answers will be revealed when the latest Whitcoulls Top 100 list closes in less than two weeks. New Zealanders have until midnight on Sunday, 25 July, to vote for their favourite books in the survey of our reading habits.

People can vote up to five times but each book can only be voted for once. Simply go to www.whitcoulls.co.nz to make your selection. Everyone who votes will go into a draw to win one of five $1,000 Whitcoulls shopping sprees.

In the first Whitcoulls Top 100 in 1998, Frank McCourt’s Angela’s Ashes was Number One while Tolkien’s Lord Of The Rings trilogy won the title in 2008 and has always been in the top four. Marian Keyes was the most popular author last time round with seven books on the list, followed by Bryce Courtenay and J K Rowling with six each.

Whitcoulls says the line-up on the list often reflects the release of movies based on popular books.
