NEW ZEALAND POST DELIVERS

Each day when I collect my mail from my post office box in Victoria Street, Auckland I hope to find among the letters, bills and magazines one of those little yellow cards that reads:

We couldn't fit everything into your P O Box- we have more items for you to collect. Please present this card at the counter to collect your mail items.

My heart skips a beat when I see this card because it almost certainly means the arrival of one or more books for me to read and review.

Today I struck the jackpot:

*The Book that Changed My Life - 71 remarkable writers celebrate the books that matter most to them - Gotham Books

*Prisoners - a Muslim and a Jew Across the Middle East Divide - Jeffrey Goldberg - Picador

*Kauri In MY Blood - Joanna Orwin - Scholastic

*Engleby - Sebastian Faulks - Hutchinson

*Mrs.Beeton's Household Management - Ward Lock -

What excitement !
I will be writing about of all of these over the next few weeks. Please note that the last mentioned title was bought from Murray Gray's Gone West Bookstore in Titirangi which specialises in "slightly used books". More about this later.
The other titles are all forthcoming or recently published.
