Writers Vic teams up with Templeberg Villa for new writing fellowship
Galle, Sri Lanka

Fancy a funded month-long writing residency in a picturesque area of Sri Lanka? Well your daydreaming might become a reality. Today Writers Victoria announced that they’ve joined with Templeberg Villa to announce the 2013 Inaugural Templeberg Residential Writing Fellowship.

With pretty much everything taken care of, including return economy airfares, accommodation at Templeberg Villa (templeberg.com), full board and a $1,000 spending cash, fiction, non-fiction and performing arts writers, poets, journalists and bloggers alike are invited to apply.

‘This is the perfect antidote to a creativity lull or the lack of time to write,’ said Writers Victoria acting Director Jacquelin Low. ‘The Fellowship is an opportunity for a writer to devote 30 uninterrupted days to their writing project in serene, inspiring surrounds.’

Templeberg Villa co-owner Christopher Shields highlighted Galle’s inspiring mix of cultures and tropical scenery, which in the past have got the creative juices of writers like Paul Bowles flowing.
‘We felt that hosting a writer at Templeberg Villa could be our way to support great Australian writing,’ said Shields.
Galle, on Sri Lanka’s south coast, is home to a respected literary festival and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Applications are now open and close midnight 14 June. The Fellowship must be taken before 31 December 2013.
