Ferguson shocked fans by the sudden announcement that he will retire at the end of this football season, after 26 years at the club's helm, winning 38 trophies.As the official publisher of Manchester United, Simon & Schuster will also release a revised and updated official club biography of Sir Alex Ferguson including the retirement news, which will be out ahead of the next season.
In October, the first in-depth account of the season the manager won three titles—the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League through 1998/99—will be told in The Impossible Treble, due to be published in October.
Simon & Schuster head of sport Ian Marshall, a lifelong United fan and the author of Class of 92, said: "Sir Alex has dominated British football for so long that it is hard to imagine he won't be on the touchline next season. He transformed Manchester United, and we are lucky to have such a tremendous range of brilliant books that highlight his achievements in so many different areas."
