A delight in Arrowtown
What do the following all have in common?
Al Brown
Peta Mathias
Paul Mercurio
Annabal Langbein
Fleur Sullivan
Yes, of course they are all chefs and all have cookbooks to their credit which have been reviewed on this blog.
But something else they have in common is that they have all written signed messages on white dinner plates that are hanging on the wall at the truly special Provisions cafe/bakery/deli in the gorgeous Central Otago historic village of Arrowtown.
Last weekend we were staying in Queenstown and on Sunday went through to Arrowtown to have lunch at Provisions which we had read about in the Sunday Star Times a couple of weeks before. The place proved to be even better than promised and I warmly recommend it to you should you be in that part of the world.
Check them out on their website - www.provisions.co.nz

Did you try a restaurant there called 'Yellow', or something similar? Every dish has saffron. I'm sure I've seen it on TV, possibly on Annabel Langein MacKenzie Country series.
Haven't been to Arrowtown for about five years, but will change that this year: look forward to trying two restaurants there now.
... Just looked at the Provisions Internet site: they just have their shop up, no menu, unfortunately, (perhaps they change menu a lot, which would be good in itself. I see they cook with food in season, so that's all good).
You are thinking of Saffron I suspect Mark.

That is a much more serious full-scale restaurant with an international reputation whereas Provisions is a cafe/bakery/deli where you go for breakfast/bruch/lunch with a menu that changes daily.Or morning and afternoon tea - don't miss their sticky buns!
