Sony Reader Breaks the $100 eReader Price Barrier
By Jason Boog on GalleyCat Jul 13, 2010
Today Sony escalated the eReader price war by being the first major eReader company to break the $100 price barrier--but only for a few hours.
eBookNewser reported this morning that Books-A-Million was selling one version of the Sony eReader for $99. Within hours, we also reported that the special members-only offer had sold out.
Currently eReader prices are less stable than a popsicle stick in a tornado. Last week Amazon quickly sold out nearly five thousand Amazon Kindles for a special $149.99 price. The device currently retails for $189. At the same time, the Barnes & Noble Nook Wi-Fi is selling for $149.
