MY COOKBOOK OBSESSION !

Yesterday while driving back from Newcastle, NSW to Sydney Airport we stopped off at the chic Sydney suburb of Woollahra. After lunch at a favourite cafe, Zigolinis, I crossed the road to the wonderful Lesley McKay's Bookshop where I couldn't resist buying MATT MORAN - When I Get Home - Lantern A$49.95.
Matt Moran is co-owner and head chef at Aria restaurant in Sydney's Circular Quay area.
In his interesting introduction Moran talks of how much he likes cooking at home where he likes to keep it simple and work around what is in season. The book includes  school-night dinners, long Sunday lunches and big weekend breakfasts. He shows how to make simple food special by adding that extra ingredient, and discover how home cooking can benefit adopting the odd restaurant technique.
Tonight I'm going to make his iceberg, egg, pea and fetta salad.
Footnote:
With our lunch at Zigolinis we greatly enjoyed a bottle of Jeanneret Big Fine Girl Reisling from the Clare Valley, recommended by the maitre'd.
I was most taken by the copy on the back label:
Reisling, the biggest and finest of all white wines and probably, if wines were gender specific, a girl - a big, fine girl. Always gorgeous in her youth and divine in maturity.
This big fine girl is made predominantly from fruit grown at the northern end of the Clare Valley, all handpicked from hand pruned vines.
