Volcanic Eruption delays Book Launch in NZ
From the “when a butterfly flaps its wings” department: the unanticipated ripple effect of the volcanic ash over Iceland has led to the postponement of planned book launch on Friday in Palmerston North.
The ash cloud has delayed delivery of Bryan Walpert's Ephraim’s Eyes, a collection of short stories by the Massey University lecturer published by literary publisher Pewter Rose Press in Nottingham, England. The books, ordered by Bruce McKenzie Booksellers in Palmerston North, got stuck on the ground when flights out of England were cancelled due to safety concerns about flying through ash.
The new launch date for Ephraim’s Eyes is Friday, 28 May, at the Palmerston North City Library. Drinks and nibbles begin at 6:30 p.m., with a reading and book signing to start a 7 p.m.
Meanwhile, Bryan Walpert was the first featured poet in the new Tuesday Poem blog online. The poem No Metaphor is from his successfully launched collection Etymology (2009).
