Publishers Lunch

Ruth Alltimes will become managing director of Hachette UK's consolidated children's book lines on August 8, reporting to group ceo Hilary Murray Hill, leaving her position as fiction publishing director at Harper UK Children's. Additionally, Anne McNeil has been promoted to senior publisher for Hodder Children's, Enid Blyton Entertainment and Quercus Children's, also reporting to Hill. Sarah Lambert moves up to editorial director for fiction for both Hodder Children's and Quercus Children's. Deputy managing director of the group Clare Somerville will become commercial director, continuing to lead rights, marketing and publicity teams. She will "focus on sales across all channels, and will lead the commercial activity for Enid Blyton Entertainment."

Little Brown UK Children's publisher Karen Ball has resigned and will leave in August to establish her own business.

Philipp Bartscher is moving over from a corporate development position to join the Crown Publishing Group as vp, director, business strategy, reporting to David Drake.

Simon & Schuster Children's has announced a number of recent promotions. Dorothy Gribbin has been promoted to director, managing editorial for S&S Books for Young Readers, Atheneum, Margaret K. McElderry, Paula Wiseman, Beach Lane, and Saga Press; Jeannie Ng moves up to senior managing editor for Atheneum and Saga Press. Christine Marshall has been promoted to managing editor for Little Simon and Simon Spotlight; Mandy Veloso moves up to production editor, Aladdin and Simon Pulse. Finally, Marissa Marks has been promoted to production editor, Simon Spotlight, S&S Books for Young Readers and Saga Press.

Becky Munich has joined Little, Brown Children's in the newly created role of associate art director. Previously she was associate art director at HarperCollins Children's. In addition, Karina Granda has joined as senior designer, previously a designer at Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, and Nisha Panchal-Terhune has been promoted to associate production director.

In Canada, Michelle Meade will join Figure 1 Publishing as senior editor. Previously she was senior editor at Phaidon Press.
