Libraries
around the UK will be totally on trend during April and May 2013, forging
exciting links with local hair, make-up and clothes stylists and suppliers,
photographers and other partners. Together they’ll create a series of enticing
library events for girls of all ages centred around The Diary of a Mall Girl – the new novel from author Luisa Plaja.
The
upcoming Lipstick Libraries tour has
been brokered by The Reading Agency’s Reading Partners consortium, which
invited public libraries to bid to Luisa’s publishers, new children’s imprint
Curious Fox, to play host to Luisa Plaja as part of wider promotional activity
for The Diary of a Mall Girl.
Following
a strong response, eight libraries were selected and will now hold events where
girls will get the chance to meet Luisa, hear her talk about her book, and
enjoy a range of girly activities including cupcake making, hair and make-up
tips and demonstrations, a catwalk show and a photo shoot.
Claire Dowse, marketing director at Curious Fox, says: “We wanted to work with libraries to open
them up to new user-ships and to celebrate what amazing spaces they are.”
