Horouta: The History of the Horouta Canoe,Gisborne and East Coast -official launch tomorrow in Gisborne

Horouta: The History of the Horouta Canoe,Gisborne and East Coast will be officially launched tomorrow evening in Gisborne.
It tells the story of the settlers who came on this famed voyaging canoe, and their descendants who populated the Gisborne and East Coast region, with extensive whakapapa and maps. Horouta has been out of print for some years, and is being reprinted to respond to wide demand.

Rongowhakaata Halbert's remarkable book, written over a period of 70 years, deserves to be back in bookstores to impart a major part of history to New Zealand readers.

Alan Haronga, the director of the Rongowhakaata Halbert Trust, was recently interviewed on Radio Watea – for further information you can listen to:http://www.waateanews.com/site/uma/images/podcasts/Te_Puna_06_12_2012_-_Allan_Haronga_1_Pub.mp3
