Skew-Whiff by Peter Olds, Poet
John Denny, owner-operator of Puriri Press, Auckland, has now completed the hand-setting of poems by Peter Olds at the Otakou Press Room in the University of Otago Library. And Skew-Whiff, as it is called, looks fabulous. Peter Olds has made a point of photographing as many samples of graffiti around town. I attach a low-res image of the ‘Centre-fold’ – a collection of just some of the graffiti, which Denny has replicated in print.
The 8 images that accompany the poems are by local artist Kathryn Madill. They too are fabulous. I particularly like the beatle boots image (remember them!) and the fluorescent MODERN on one page. This hand-set hand-inked edition is limited to only 100 copies.
