At New York Comic Con, Disney Publishing hosted a panel featuring writer Rich Thomas, artist Val Semeiks, and artist Craig Rousseau. The panel explored a line of picture book titles starring Marvel comic book heroes (Disney acquired the company in 2009 in a $4 billion deal).
First, the panelists showcased the Origin Stories picture book series starring Spider-Man, The Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and Professor X. The Hulk’s title will be released in November; the other five are already available. In continuation of this line, two books spotlighting The Mighty Avengers will be published in April 2012.
The first part will show how the heroes banded together. Part Two will discuss how Captain America joined the team. The publisher is also currently working on a project about the X-Men’s Wolverine. Future Origins Stories titles could star some villains and female heroes.

They also showed Meet the Marvel Superheroes, a 140-page compilation of 101 characters with pictures and brief biographies. Marvel is also developing The Amazing Spider-Man Marvel Storybook Collection, a 320-page short story compilation with stories about Spider-Man and “what it means to be Peter Parker.”
