Armstrong’s plays include Niu Sila, (co-written with Oscar Kightley), The Motor Camp, The Tutor, King and Country, Le Sud, and Rita and Douglas . His television credits include Seven Periods with Mr Gormsby (co-creator and co-writer), Shortland Street, and Spies and Lies. His children’s opera, Kia Ora Khalid, will have a season at the Playhouse at Melbourne ’s Arts Centre in October. Armstrong will discuss his plays and his view that playwriting is an intensely physical ‘three-dimensional’ activity, much of which must be done in workshops and rehearsals with actors, directors and dramaturgs, rather than sitting alone in an office tapping away.
