AN ILLUSTRATED HISTORY OF CHRISTCHURCH'S THE PRESS

Congratulations to The Press on achieving 150 years of supplying news to the people of Canterbury.

In this entertaining, highly illustrated look back over those years Mike Crean and his picture research assistant, Jude Twenion, have done The Press proud. All Cantabrians, past and present, should get hold of a copy.
The following picture of Allen Curnow appears in the chapter on notable writers who have written for The Press. The caption reads - The Press published Allen Curnow's weekly verse under the pseudonym Whim Wham, who soon became New Zealand's favourite and best-read poet.
The caption on the following photo reads:

Both photos from The Press archives.
