Breaking Dawn to be biggest paperback release of the year

Retailers are expecting the publication of Stephenie Meyer's Breaking Dawn next week to be one of the "biggest paperback releases of the year". The fourth and final novel in the Twilight series is to be published by Atom in paperback on 19th August after being out in hardback for two years.

Sarah Clarke, Waterstone's children's buying manager, said: "Despite the fact that the hardback has remained at or near the top of our children's chart since publication - it's still number three now - we have no doubt that Breaking Dawn is going to be our biggest children's paperback of the year. We'll be supporting it accordingly, and look forward to some very impressive sales."

Amy Worth, head of books buying at Amazon.co.uk, said: "We'd expect the paperback of Breaking Dawn to be one of the biggest paperback releases of the year, challenging hugely popular titles including Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol and Stieg Larsson's The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest. The Twilight franchise continues to do very well, as does anything vampire related as a whole, with Charlaine Harris’s True Blood also featuring several times in the top 100 alongside Stephenie Meyer's series."

The publisher has launched a marketing campaign with posters at railway stations, countdown to publication competitions on www.atombooks.net, Twitter and Facebook pages. Although unable to provide any exact figures, a spokesperson for the publisher said pre-order sales are "strong and compare well to other Meyer paperbacks".

W H Smith and Waterstone's are both currently offering the title for £4 off at £3.99, as is Amazon
