On the eve of the winner announcement, the 2008 Man Booker Prize shortlisted authors speak at the Southbank Centre
To mark the 40th anniversary of the Booker Prize, the Southbank Centre hosts an evening of readings and discussion with the six 2008 shortlisted authors. This will take place at the Purcell Room, Queen Elizabeth Hall on Monday 13th October at 7.45pm.
The Man Booker Prize for Fiction, the most important literary award in the English language, celebrates the finest in new fiction by rewarding the very best novel of the year. Join the shortlisted authors, the day before the 2008 winner is announced, for readings from their books, debate and an audience Q&A chaired by Ion Trewin, Man Booker Prize for Fiction Literary Director. Book signings with the authors will take place after the talk.
The 13 authors on the longlist are Aravind Adiga, Gaynor Arnold, Sebastian Barry, John Berger, Michelle de Krester, Amitav Ghosh, Linda Grant, Mohammed Hanif, Philip Hensher, Joseph O’Neill, Tom Rob Smith, Salman Rushdie and Steve Toltz.
The shortlist of six will be announced on 9th September. The shortlisted authors taking part will be confirmed after this date.
