NEW ZEALAND WOMAN'S WEEKLY CELEBRATES DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY
Congratulations to the NZ Woman's weekly on achieving their 75th anniversary.

And what a great way to observe the occasion by honouring 75 special New Zealand women.

Among them I was pleased to observe a good representation of people from the world of books:

Authors Maggie Barry, Keri Hulme, Elizabeth Knox, Julie Le Clerc, Alison Holst, and Margaret Mahy.

And two others I wish to specially mention - Kim Hill who on Nine to Noon and more latterly on Saturday Morning has dome so much by way of book reviews and author interviews and more, and Dame Cath Tizard who during her term as Governor General always held the annual NZ Post Childrens Book Awards ceremony at Government House in Wellington resulting in that grand old building being filled with young book enthusiast kids.

Both of these remarkable women have done/are doing much to raise the profile of books and reading and I salute them.
