At Scribe in the UK: Molly Slight has been promoted to editorial and publicity manager, while Adam Howard moves up to publicist. Sophie Leeds has been promoted to digital marketing coordinator, and Sarah Braybrooke becomes managing director.

Matt Klise has been promoted to assistant editor at Penguin Books.

Laura Van der Veer has joined Amazon Publishing’s literary imprint Little A as Editor. Previously, she was associate editor at Spiegel & Grau.

Hannah Wood has left Harper and is relocating to San Francisco to work as a freelance editor.

Robert James Waller, 77, bestselling author of
The Bridges of Madison County, died on March 10, at home in Fredericksburg, TX. He was the author of seven novels and several works of non-fiction.

Forthcoming
As expected, Penguin Random House confirmed that the company will publish directly around the world the recently-acquired books by former president Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama. Viking UK will publish in the UK, ANZ, India, Ireland, and South Africa. Local imprints were not named for the other territories yet, but PRH will publish in Spanish in Spain, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay, and the US. PRH Grupo Editorial will publish in Portugal as well, with the company's Companhia das Letras publishing in Brazil. The separate "sister company" Random House Germany will also co-publish.
