Booka Bookshop
Booksellers are feeling bullish heading into the final frenzied days of selling before Christmas following a raft of “strong publishing” and sales tracking nearly 10% ahead on the comparable figures from 2014, beating the national retail average.
Books of the Year
In our third annual Best of the Best round-up, The Bookseller takes a broad look at which titles are gathering consistent mentions as highlights of the year in publishing in newspapers' "Best of 2015" lists.
Loop of Jade
British poet Sarah Howe has been awarded The Sunday Times/ Peters Fraser + Dunlop Young Writer of the Year Award for her first collection of poems, Loop of Jade (Chatto & Windus), described as an “enthralling personal exploration of her dual heritage."
Cactus
Cactus Studios will not be going ahead with plans to hold a 10-part TV Book Club on ITV next spring.
Ursula Mackenzie
Little, Brown chairman Ursula Mackenzie has won the Pandora Award - Women in Publishing’s award for "significant and sustained contribution to the publishing industry".
Biteback Publishing
Biteback Publishing has signed Credible and True, the memoir of former Conservative MP Harvey Proctor, who has become embroiled in allegations of child sexual abuse this year.



Global Kids Connect
The Bologna Children’s Book Fair and Publishers Weekly joint-sponsored their first children’s conference, Global Kids Connect, followed by a half-day focus on the Chinese children’s market.
Yellow Kite is publishing Into the Magic Shop by Dr James Doty - "a neurosurgeon's true story of the life-changing magic of compassion and mindfulness".
Moth Publishing
Leeds-based writer Kathleen McKay has won Moth Publishing’s Northen Crime Competition.
Amy WIlson
Macmillan Children’s Books has bought the world rights to A Girl Called Owl, a new tween fiction novel, from Skylark Literary.
