Andy Murray guest edits the Beano

British tennis champion Andy Murray is marking this year’s Wimbledon championship by guest editing and starring in the Beano.

In the comic, Dennis the Menace teaches Murray about how to be a menace as well as control his emotions on the tennis court. Dennis’ dog Gnasher at one point destroys Murray’s tennis racquet and Minnie the Minx makes an appearance on court.

Readers will also get their hands on an Andy Murray supporter’s poster.

Murray, who won the men’s title at Wimbledon last year, said in his editor’s letter: “Olympic Gold was my proudest moment; becoming the first male British Wimbledon winner for 77 years was amazing, but this might be my greatest title yet. Andy Murray – editor of the Beano!”

Regular editor Craig Graham pointed out that Murray is the only British man to have won Wimbledon in the Beano’s 76-year history. The number three tennis seed “was a great sport” throughout his week in charge and is welcome in the Beano office “any time”, he added.
