"Daydreams and Diaries" features scenes from Wilson’s life, starting with a replica of her childhood bedroom and ending with a mock-up of the study where she now works. The exhibition also shows examples of her writing, including annotated versions of novels Tracy Beaker and Hetty Feather, and the diary Wilson kept as a child.
Museum director Rhian Harris said the V&A wanted to host the event because Wilson is one of the UK’s best-loved writers for children.
“She is very important for us because she has a very sensitive view of modern childhood and was one of the first authors to talk about issues such as divorce and death,” she told The Bookseller. “But at the same time she is very inspiring and has such as positive attitude to life.”
The Seven Stories centre created the Jacqueline Wilson exhibition in 2011. Since then it has travelled to Newcastle, Hove, Hull and Kilmarnock. London is its final stop and it will run at the V&A Museum of Childhood in east London until 2nd November.
