The Michael King Writers' Centre - Poetry and picnic in the garden on Auckland Anniversary Day, Monday January 27.

Poetry and picnic in the garden on Auckland Anniversary Day, Monday January 27.

Enjoy the spectacle of sails from the Signalman’s House. The house and garden will be open from 11 am to 4 pm for members of the public to picnic, watch the Auckland Regatta from a great vantage point, enjoy the views and listen to local poets reading their work. Look through the collection of literary memorabilia.

The open day is hosted by the Devonport Friends of the Michael King Writers’ Centre. BYO picnic. Free tea/coffee. The centre is half way up the road to the summit of Takarunga Mt Victoria in Devonport. Park on top of Takarunga Mt Victoria or on nearby Kerr Street. There is limited parking on the summit road. Or catch the ferry from the city and enjoy the delights of Devonport.
