Huia Publishers founders retire

from PANZ News

Robyn Bargh (pictured right) confirms that at the end of Huia’s 22nd year in business, she and Brian have decided to semi-retire. This was effective as of the end of 2013, and they have handed over the management of the company to Brian Morris and Eboni Waitere.

“In case you’re wondering,” says Robyn, “‘Semi-retire’ will mean a continued involvement with the business, working on some projects and continuing as directors of the company, in between spending more time with mokopuna, mahi korowai, iwi stuff, fishing, me ērā mea katoa.

“This is a perfect time to make this change – the company is in good heart and we have a great team who can deliver quality products.

“From the beginning of this year Brian and Eboni will be the Executive Directors of Huia and it will be business as usual. We will miss the company and laughter of all our friends and colleagues in the publishing industry and the joy of producing beautiful books. However, we are looking forward to this new phase of our lives.”

Robyn has also retired as a PANZ Councillor.

On behalf of PANZ, Sam Elworthy said “It is a great testament to Brian and Robyn’s publishing genius that they leave a company in such great shape and in such good hands.

“We wish them well in their semi-retirement (!) and I know we will all miss them enormously in the industry, and as friends.
