Getty Publications has introduced a virtual library that will provide free online access to more than 250 backlist titles, available online or as PDF downloads. The library includes titles published by the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Getty Conservation Institute, and the Getty Research Institute, with new titles added on an ongoing basis. more » »

iBooks Bestsellers: 'Lone Survivor,' 'Duty' Top the List
For the second week in a row, Marcus Luttrell and Patrick Robinson's Lone Survivor was the top selling book on Apple's iBooks bestseller list. A film adaptation of the 2007 book about a Navy SEAL mission hit theaters on January 10. Duty, by former defense secretary Robert M. Gates, jumped from #8 to the #2 spot, for the week ended January 20. more » »

Baker Street Irregulars Turns 80
On January 17, 2014, the Baker Street Irregulars, the world’s leading group of Sherlock Holmes enthusiasts, held its annual dinner at the Yale Club in New York City, celebrating 80 years as an organization. Michael Whelan, the head of the BSI who’s also known as “Wiggins” or by his investiture name, “Vincent Spaulding,” presided. Some 165 people attended. more » »
