Digital Book World 2014: An Industry Transformed

The 5th annual Digital Book World conference opened with a look back over those five years and the vast changes in book publishing wrought by the transition to digital media. 

In Tuesday's CEO session, panelists painted a picture of an industry chastened in the wake of the Apple price-fixing ruling, but acting on new opportunities in the digital transition and making money despite disruptions.

DBW 2014: Publisher, Startup Partnerships
The concept of “pain points,” specific areas of weakness in a business model, was a common thread at a pair of panels at the Digital Book World conference on Tuesday in New York City. Publishing startup entrepreneurs and their counterparts at traditional publishing houses both stressed the idea that a successful startup-publisher relationship relies on paying attention to what gaps can be filled.

O’Reilly Media is using this year’s DBW to launch Atlas, a new online service aimed at streamlining the workflow in digital publishing.
