Don McGlashan will treat Devonport to another appearance this
week, with a session at the Devonport Library Associates.
Don, who held the Summer Residency at the Michael King
Writers’ Centre earlier in the year, gave a wonderful performance at The
Depot to mark the end of his residency in April. On Thursday he will speak,
and sing, at the Devonport Library.
A full-time song writer, performer and composer for more than
30 years, Don has fronted New Zealand’s leading bands and written some of our
favourite songs.
He now has a solo career, represents New Zealand song writers
and composers on the Board of the Australasian Performing Rights Association,
and is soon to feature in a new television project which involves work in
prisons. The Summer Residency at the Michael King Writers’ Centre was his
second major literary award.
Don will talk about his latest work and the challenges of the
music industry. And, of course, he’ll sing.
This event is free and it is bound to be very popular.
A Devonport Library Associates event
Drinks and nibbles from 7.30 pm and talk from 8 pm.
