Nikki Crowther R.I.P

Anne de Lautour advises :  We have very sad news to tell you.

Nikki Crowther died on Saturday after a short illness. Nikki contributed so much to PANZ and the book trade while she lived in NZ for 2 years.

She managed the NZ Book Month promotion superbly by widening the focus and extending its coverage and above all communicated this to all parties involved. Before coming to NZ Nikki was the fiction buyer for WH Smith in the UK, and on arrival spent some months consulting at RedGroup.

PANZ HQ became Nikki's second home as she based herself there for the book month campaign. She worked with us on various projects including the design awards and the trade rights catalogue for Frankfurt GoH and this was always on a voluntary basis to pay for her 'desk rental '.

Nikki's passion for what she did never wavered and she inspired us all. And made us laugh. And made us look at our own country through her eyes as she loved it so much.

Nikki and her partner Martin returned to UK in July 2011. Our love and thoughts are with Martin and the family. If you wish to send a note to Martin and the family please do so using Nikki's email nikkicrow1@hotmail.com

This is devastating news. I fondly recall meeting Nikki a few times while she was NZ Book Month coordinator and sitting down for coffee and a long chat with her during that time. She was a warm person full of laughter and charm and a great administrator. I'm so shocked and saddened to hear this news; my thoughts go out to Nikki's partner and family, siobhan
