Oprah Picks New Book
At least her book club is doing better than OWN. Oprah has selected Ayana Mathis’s debut novel, The Twelve Tribes of Hattie, as her next book-club pick. The talk-show queen never selects a new book unless she “really, really loves” it, and Oprah says that before she finished the first chapter of Twelve Tribes, she knew she would select it. Oprah’s Book Club 2.0 launched this summer, and readers participate via Facebook, Twitter, VYou, and Oprah.com.
This is Oprah’s 67th book-club selection, and she says that while reading it, “I knew I was having the privilege of witnessing a great writer’s career begin.”
