Kath and Kim poets? Tuesday Poem thinks so.
Provocative kiwi-US poet, Zireaux, has chosen Kath and Kim of the Australian TV comedy as his poets for Tuesday Poem this week. As he says:
"If Kath and Kim were ever told they spoke the language of poetry, they'd be the first to give earnest impassioned readings at the Fountain Gate bookstore and pawn their own chapbooks at the gym. Playing fools in the name of beauty is what they do best."
But are they, you know, well, poets? Zireaux declares them 'pitch perfect' and has picked two extracts from their scripts - Dippity Bix and Chimpanzee - to support his argument.
And when you've finished with Kath and Kim, check out a range of poetry in the sidebar - from David Wagoner to Rhian Gallagher to John Masefield, and the birthday poem for the website's collective called The Poets' Birthday is still being aired.
