GIRLS' NIGHT OUT

MAKE UP A GROUP FOR A GREAT TIME!

Kathy LetteThe irrepressible, glam chick-lit queen, Kathy Lette will have you and your girlfriends in stiches at her Tastings and Tiaras double bill on Saturday 12 May.

Start the evening at 6.30pm with a tasting of three Cable Bay Vineyards wines with winemakers Neill Culley and Mel McIntyre, each matched with a canapé and then move into the ASB Theatre for a session with Kathy, chaired by Nicky Pellegrino.

Kathy will talk about her latest book The Boy Who Fell To Earth, her writing life and loves, the joys for an ex-pat Australian diva living in London and the very real challenges remaining for women in a 21st century landscape.

Visit The EDGE website for more information.

AUCKLAND LIBRARIES' BLOGGERS

COVER THE FESTIVAL

AL heart AWRF! The Auckland Libraries blog Books in the City will once again be posting its special mix of reverent and irreverent festival commentary by bibliophiliac, culture vulture, fashionista, AWRF-loving librarians.

SPEAKING OF BLOGS...
THE FESTIVAL FRONTLINE

The latest instalment of our blog The Festival Frontline, penned by Artistic Director Anne O'Brien, is avaliable on our website for your reading pleasure.

One of the great things about a literature festival is the chance to hear writers whom you have grown to love, alongside writers you are about to discover and whom will become your future book companions over many years.

With less than four weeks to go until kick-off, we thought this would be a great time to introduce you to some of the great novelists that underpin this year’s event, including Jeffrey Eugenides, Roddy Doyle and Sebastian Barry.

DIGITAL ART INSTALLATION

ENLIVENS FESTIVAL FOYER

The Festival and interactive artist Stuart Foster, in association with THE EDGE and CoLab, an Auckland-based interdisciplinary creative technology centre, are producing a digital installation to be screened on the digi-wall behind the Festival Bookstall from May 9 -13.

This exciting real-time text-based work will feature quotes from Festival writers and tweets from audience members.

Tweet us at @AklWritersFest and use the tag #AWRF2012, and see it when you walk past the screens!

Pictured above is a past digital art installation by Stuart.
