David Ling’s Duck Creek Press to Bologna

PANZ Newsletter - January 2010

Duck Creek Press, the new children’s imprint launched last year by David Ling will share exhibition space with Gecko Press at Bologna Children’s Book Fair, March 28-31.
The decision to go to Bologna was made after an excellent response to the titles when shown by Linda Cassells of Calico Publishing at Frankfurt last year.

We finally decided to go to Bologna on the back of the positive comments on the books and are already making appointments with people who want to meet us at Bologna,” says Ling, pic left.

Duck Creek Press released their initial three titles in hardback last year with texts by Maurice Shadbolt, Dorothy Butler and first time author Janene Cooper, and illustrators Lyn Kriegler, Evie Kemp and Renee Haggo, the latter two recent graphic design graduates on their first assignments.

Duck Creek will be taking mockups of a further three titles to Bologna. David Ling’s past children’s publishing background includes bestsellers A Pukeko in a Ponga Tree and Jennifer Beck’s The Choosing Day. Support from Creative NZ will assist the Duck Creek presence at Bologna.
