Cunningham, Walters, Herbert honoured in Queen's Birthday list
14.06.10 | Catherine Neilan in The Bookseller
Publishers of classics, educational and children's books and authors of genres as disparate as horror and current affairs were among those to receive honours in the Queen's Birthday list this year.
Former chief executive of Hodder Education, Philip Walters, received an MBE while Susan Bradbury, former editor-in-chief of the Foilo Society, and Chicken House Books' Barry Cunningham - the man who discovered J K Rowling - were given OBEs for their services to the publishing industry.
Moira Arthur, former managing director of Peters Bookselling Services, received an MBE for her work in children's libraries.
Among the authors to be honoured were three poets - Simon Armitage, Michael Longley and Wendy Cope, who received CBEs and an OBE respectively - horror writer James Herbert and playwright, author and critic Bonnie Greer, who both received OBEs.

Niuce to see publishing figures being honoured. Barry Cunningham (pic left) is a friend and former colleague of The Bookman and I extend to him my warmest congratulations.
