Another Writer Joins the Wild Wild World of  Blogging!
Eleven years after she got a school case of manuscripts out from under the bed and started writing in earnest, Christchurch based author Helen Lowe has finally taken yet another plunge and joined the wide world of internet blogging. A big welcome Helen from Bookman Beattie.

Helen first appeared on The Bookman’s blog in 2008 when her debut novel, Thornspell, was published by Knopf (Random House Children’s Books) in the United States. Thornspell has gone on to receive a Storylines Notable Book citation and win the Sir Julius Vogel Award for Best Novel: Young Adult , both in 2009.

Helen has also been a welcome semi-regular name on Beatties Bookblog, sending through information about “what’s happening” with other writers, particularly poets, and also links to the podcasts of Women on Air (Plains 96.9 FM) interviews—again with other poets and writers.

With a second novel, The Heir of Night—the first in the four book The Wall of Night series—being published simultaneously by Eos (HarperCollins, USA) and Orbit (Hachette Australia/NZ) in October 2010 (and in the UK, again with Orbit, in March 2011), Lowe sees blogging as the natural next step.

“The internet is the major communication innovation of our age and although I’ve had a website for several years, blogging is more interactive. It allows readers to get involved. The blog will also allow me to talk more informally about what I’m doing with the books and interviews, and my writing generally, as well as sharing my love of story—both in my own work and showcasing other writers’ books and poetry.
“But,” she adds, “I’m calling the blog Helen Lowe on Anything Really, because I am interested in a great many things beside books, poetry and writing, from comets (check out the post on Comet McNaught—C/2009 R1) to cooking, so may be talking about some of those, too, from time to time. I hope your readers will drop on over for a visit: just click on this link: http://helenlowe.info/blog/ There’s no need to be shy—do say hello! And feel free to come back anytime. Posts will be happening.”
