Text Publishing chuffed with all their Award nominations. And so they should be !


·         Nicolas Rothwell's Belomor and Cory Taylor's My Beautiful Enemy are both included on the twelve-strong longlist for Australia's most prestigious literary award, the Miles Franklin Literary Award. The award is presented each year to the novel which is judged to be of the highest literary merit and presents Australian life in any of its phases. The shortlist will be announced at a public event at the State Library of New South Wales on 15 May, with the winner announced on 26 June.
·         A. J. Betts' Zac & Mia has been shortlisted for the Ethel Turner Prize for Young People's Literature in the NSW Premier's Literary Awards. The winners will be announced at a presentation at the State Library of NSW on 19 May.
·         Eimear McBride's A Girl Is a Half-formed Thing has been shortlisted in the 2014 Baileys Women's Prize (formerly the Orange Prize). The winner will be announced on 4 June.
·         A Girl Is a Half-formed Thing has also been longlisted in the Desmond Elliot Prize. The Desmond Elliot Prize is a prestigious award for first-time novelists that aims to showcase novels with 'a compelling narrative, arresting characters...vividly written and confidently realised'. The shortlist will be announced on 26 May and the winner on 3 July.
·         Ruth Ozeki's A Tale for the Time Being won the fiction category in the 34th annual LA Times Book Prizes. 
·         A Tale for the Time Being also received an Honour Award in the American Booksellers Association's 2014 Indies Choice Awards.
·         Graeme Simsion's The Rosie Project has been shortlisted for the Waverton Good Read Award. The winner will be announced on 30 June at an event held as part of Chester Literature Festival in the UK.
·         The Rosie Project has also been shortlisted for General Fiction Book of the Year in the 2014 ABIA Awards. The winners in all categories will be announced in Sydney on 23 May.

·         Elena Ferrante's The Story of a New Name, translated from the Italian by Ann Goldstein, is a finalist for the 2014 Best Translated Book Award. The award aims to bring attention to the best original works of international fiction and poetry published in the US during the previous year. The winner will be announced on 28 April.
