The Bookman raves about a book on Radio New Zealand National
The Kill Room,
Jeffery Deaver
Hachette - $37.99
I reviewed this book with Kathryn Ryan on Nine to Noon today and gave it as real rave.
For my my money Jeffery Deaver is probably the finest exponent of crime fiction writing today.
This is his 30th title, the 10th in his series featuring the brilliant quadraplegic forensic ciminalist Linclon Rhyme and his associate/partner Amelia Sachs.
Robert Moreno, a US citizen from New Jersey, is shot and killed in the Bahamas. Rhyme and Sachs are persuaded by a NY Assistant District Attorney to become involved as the Attorney believes the killing was ordered by a government agency.
The book becomes an interesting exploration of current US security issues as well as the usual totally unputdownable crime fiction thriller filled with twists and turns right to the very last page.
I loved it. Superb plot, characterisation and full of his typically rich language.
An outstanding novel which I warmly recommend.
It runs to 456 pages and the action all takes place over 17 days from 9 May to 26 May.
