A number of publishers announced their
reprint plans Tuesday for Pulitzer Prize-winning titles. Random House published
fiction winner THE ORPHAN MASTER'S SON by Adam Johnson and Fredrik Logevall's
EMBERS OF WAR -- both edited by David Eberhsoff -- and says the novel has
"gone back to press twice in trade paperback" for a total of 53,500
copies in print, with an additional 3,000 copies in hardcover. The publisher
will also print 10,000 additional copies of Logevall's book.
Crown is still settling on reprint plans
for biography winner Tom Reiss's THE BLACK COUNT, and is "now in
discussions here about when to publish the paperback edition of the book."
Meanwhile, poetry winner Sharon Olds' STAG'S LEAP will go back for a 5th
hardcover printing for 3500 copies, Knopf tells us, with another 10,000 copies
in a paperback reprint, for a combined total of 25,000 copies in print in both
physical formats. A spokesperson for Harper, which publishes general nonfiction
awardee Gilbert King's THE DEVIL IN THE GROVE, had not responded by press time.
