NZ E-book publishing company launches first titles

A group of readers and writers from Whanganui, New Zealand, teamed up in December 2011 to put their love of books into a new publishing business, Tangerine Publications.

Discovering they had a mutual appreciation for literature, as well as experience in writing, publishing and marketing, Joan Rosier-Jones, Prabh Mokha, Cass Alexander and Gayelene Holly decided the time was ripe to develop a business to reflect the rapidly changing face of book publishing.

Tangerine Publications focuses on new publishing strategies like e-books but also provides a print-on-demand option for those who prefer the touch and feel of a printed book.

Fantasy novel The Last Sanctuary by Prabh Mokha, was the first booked launched.  Two other works are available in e-book and print on demand format:  Mind Changers is a book for teens, written by Sasha Gabrielle Murray who lives in New York while Waiting for Elizabeth by Joan Rosier-Jones, set in Tudor Ireland, is a historical novel, based on true events.

The next book to be launched is Mike Ponder’s Four Kings, a stand-alone sequel to The Windsor ConspiracyFour Kings is the story of a Zimbabwean man who, after his land is destroyed, vows to seek revenge while uncovering a conspiracy.  The Four Kings launch will be held in December 2012.

A number of children’s books are also in the pipeline. The Tangerine works with talented authors, illustrators and designers from around New Zealand.

“It is a pleasure working with such gifted authors and illustrators. The professionalism and talent amongst New Zealand’s creative community is vast,” says Joan Rosier-Jones.

Tangerine Publications will also republish some of New Zealand’s iconic literature with Visiting Ghosts, Judith White’s award-winning collection of short stories, in the pipeline.
