Waiheke-based storyteller Tanya Batt has
turned two of her most popular performance stories into charming picture books.
Catching
Fish, illustrated by Peru’s Natalia Vasquez, and My Dad’s a Dragon Catcher, illustrated
by New Zealand’s Helen Bacon, are published by Clean Slate Press.
“Watching Tanya perform is like watching
story magic,” says Clean Slate Press Business Director Sandy Roydhouse. “We
were delighted to have the chance to publish these original stories, which are
sure to become Kiwi classics.”
Catching
Fish tells the tale of Jake, who loses the five red
fish off his favourite shirt. This story is brought to life with vibrant
collage-style illustrations and will delight three to six year olds.
Toby in My
Dad’s a Dragon Catcher tells his friends a giant whopper and then must
confess what he’s said to his dad. Helen Bacon’s illustrations are whimsical
and heart-warming, from the dragons down to the fireproof undies. This book
will be enjoyed by children aged six to eight.
Published as both softcover (RRP $19.99)
and hardback (RRP $24.99) these two books are published by by Clean Slate Press
