J K Rowling was awarded the "Outstanding British Contibution to Cinema" at the British Academy Film Awards (Baftas) last night [13th February] as "The King’s Speech" swept the boards.
Rowling was given the award for the Harry Potter franchise alongside producer David Heyman.
"The King’s Speech", based on the diaries of speech therapist Lionel Logue (Quercus) was named Best Film and won six further awards including a leading actor Bafta for star Colin Firth.
"The Social Network", based on Ben Mezrich’s The Accidental Billionaires (Arrow) was awarded the best director prize for David Fincher, adapted screenplay gong for Aaron Sorkin and the editing award.
