The Kitchen Garden

From the Cook the Books Newsletter:

The cruel irony of having written a newsletter based on the joys of the kitchen garden hit home last night when we watched the site of the Ellerslie Flower Show – New Zealand’s premier gardening showcase providing shelter for the displaced in Christchurch.

Sitting at my desk in Auckland today, my thoughts are probably the same as most of you – “what can I possibly do”?

Since we had already written this email, letting you know we have a 20% discount on selected Kitchen Gardening Books, we have decided to not only offer this discount, we will also give a donation equivalent to 20% of all our online sales (excl delivery) for the next fortnight to those providing nourishment in this time of need - 0800HUNGRY - the largest foodbank in NZ.
I happened to hear one of their truck drivers on the radio today and the work these volunteers are doing is heart-warming. If you chose, you can also pass on your 20% discount to the Food Bank - just let us know in the “comments” section of your order, and we will amend the transaction to show your donation.

We are thinking of all our foodie friends in Canterbury, and hope that you and your loved ones are safe & well.
