After filing for bankruptcy yesterday, Borders attempted to reassure customers about Borders Gift Cards, Borders Rewards Plus membership, and online shopping.
eBookNewser contributor Nate Hoffelder created a Google Map tracking the 200 store closures (follow this PDF link for the complete list) around the United States–marking the shuttered stores in clusters of blue markers.
While the company will still honor Borders Gift Cards, the bookseller noted: “customers can redeem but not buy gift cards in closing stores.” In an unexpected passage, the company told customers that Borders.com will be overhauled soon– “significantly improved in the coming weeks to enhance our customers’ online shopping experience.”
Finally, customers can still use Borders Rewards Plus cards, earn rewards, and redeem those rewards at all stores. However, the company noted: “customers cannot sign up for the Rewards program in closing stores.”
