The Bookseller - 16.02.11 - Graeme Neill
Penguin and Hachette were the big winners at the Publishers Publicity Circle awards, each coming away with three awards. The ceremony was held at Dolada in central London last night (15th February); the awards are given to the best publicity campaigns of last year.
Alex Hippisley-Cox won the PPC award for hardback non-fiction for her work on Andrew Rawnsley's The End of the Party (Viking) while Rina Gill won the Sunday Telegraph award for hardback fiction for promoting Matterhorn (Corvus) by Karl Marlantes.
As well as a prize for The End of the Party Penguin also picked up awards for campaigns for Michelle Gorman's Single in the City and Eoin Colfer's Artemis Fowl. Hachette was given plaudits for publicity for David Nicholls' One Day, From Notting Hill with Love by Ali MacNamara and Living Dolls by Natasha Walter.
The judging panel comprised Mo Siewcharran from Nielsen, Foyles' Julia Kingsford, Orna O'Brien from Reed Expo, The Bookseller's Alice O'Keeffe, Michael Prodger from the Telegraph and Jon Howells from Waterstone's.
