Tuesday Poem this week has at the hub an extract from Aucklander Anne Kennedy's excellent long poem 'The Time of the Giants'. Selected by this week's editor, poet Sarah Jane Barnett from Wellington, the poem is a NZ tale about a woman giant who tries to hide her size from her normal-sized lover. Sarah Jane says, the poem is 'a modern day myth that is lyrical, funny, and quietly satirical of modern etiquette.'
Quietly feminist too. Worth a read for sure. After that, there are poems in the live blog roll by a collection of Tuesday Poets. Read poems about armadillos, cobras, herons, butterflies, full moons in Minnesota, glass domes ... and more.
