BLOOD LINES

T. K. Roxborogh
Penguin - $40

The epic story that began with Banquo’s Son continues. I am not a great reader of historical fiction and thus haven't read this latest handsome looking book from Dunedin writer T.K.Roxborogh but one can't but be impressed with the response to the previous title in the trilogy, Banquo's Son:

During 2010, Banquo’s Son was shortlisted for the New Zealand Post Children’s Book Awards

(YA section), awarded a Notable Book Award by the Storylines Children’s Literature Foundation and won the inaugural YA section of the 2010 LIANZA awards.

from the LIANZA judges

The judges were delighted with this historic and adventurous novel set in Scotland in the years after the MacBeth’s rule, making Shakespeare accessible to readers who might not always be so intrigued. “While the novel introduced new characters, there were some recognisable ones – it was like coming across an old friend when characters from MacBeth appeared.”

About the author:
T.K. Roxborogh lives in Dunedin, and has been an English and drama teacher since 1989. She is the author of over twenty published works across a range of genres: novels, plays for the classroom, shakespearean texts, English grammar books and adult non-fiction. She teaches at a secondary school, writes at every opportunity and , with her husband, runs around after two teenage daughters and two border collies.

Birthright, book three, is already underway for publication in 2011, and promises to be an exciting and heart-stopping final in the trilogy.
